GLOBAL MISSION

Anchor Community Church supports  West View Academy based in Kenya. We have been raising funds to support the ongoing education of the children in this school.  It is a school based on faith principles with God at the heart of everything they do.  We have recently been able to send money for playground equipment and to support educational trips out.  We are currently raising funds to help provide new classrooms and teachers.  For completely up to date information see the school Facebook page.

About Us

We are a positive, lively church and welcome you and your family to come and join us for our Sunday Worship Services. Learn to develop a relationship with God through inspirational and contemporary worship (live band), practical Bible teaching and activities for the kids, prayer and a positive, encouraging support network.

Background

45 years ago, Marjorie Davies, a citizen of West End, donated some land adjoining her back garden to be used as a Church in Quob Lane.

The Quob Lane Site

A building was constructed and the site was acquired by Southampton Community Church and over the years it has become very well known as both a church and the Kings School.  At present a portion of the building is used by Paint Pots, the very well established Nursery School.

Statement of Faith

We believe in God the Almighty Father, Creator of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Almighty Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Words of Encouragement

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

God commands our confident trust in Him. In a world that encourages us to believe in ourselves and to achieve all we deserve, it’s paramount to understand who and Whose we are. Society sets a bar to earn and accumulate. Accomplishments and accessories are lauded above humility and God-ordained purpose.

“Very often, people have a hard time taking God at His word,” wrote Jack Graham. “If God says it, that settles it, and there’s absolutely no reason to doubt it.” So, in place of worldly standards, the Old Testament admonishment of Deuteronomy 31:6 can serve as a benchmark in our everyday lives.

Global Mission

Anchor Community Church supports West View Academy which is a school in a village in south west Kenya, called Chungni, near Migori.  It is for the children of poor families, and for orphans. The school is funded through giving. Just £5 per month pays for each child’s school fees, and contributes towards the salaries of the teachers. Currently the teachers are paid half of that paid to government funded schools but our objective is that there will be parity in due time. However school fees for these schools are much much higher which is the reason why so many children, mainly in the bush, are not going to school. The school is faith based, teaching about Jesus Christ. Our intention is to build a total of eleven classes and one computer room. Three pre-Primary, eight Primary (aged 5-16), and a computer room. We also want to build a staff room for the teachers, and a Dormitory which will double up as a Dining Hall.
