History of Anchor Community Church

The Quob Lane Site

45 years ago, Marjorie Davies, a citizen of West End, donated some land adjoining her back garden to be used as a Church in Quob Lane.

A building was constructed and the site was acquired by Southampton Community Church and over the years it has become very well known as both a church and the Kings School.  At present a portion of the building is used by Paint Pots, the very well established Nursery School.

After 40 years, the Davies family reacquired the building, due to the incredible generosity of Southampton Community Church who gave it back. So, after a whole generation, the building is now back in the Davies family. It is interesting that there is a verse in the Bible that says: “Cast your bread upon the waters and after many days it will return.” Ecclesiastes 11:1

One of Marjorie Davies’ grandsons, Ben Davies, is a licensed Christian Minister in his own right, with much experience in Church Leadership and has travelled extensively to various African nations training Church leaders in the Bible. He is a Bible Teacher ‘par excellence’ and is the Senior Leader of Anchor Community Church which recently started in the Quob Lane building.

Services are Sunday mornings at 10.30 am and you are welcome to come along, join us and be part of something exciting.
